In this section of the NSCAP website you will find information about psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children, adolescents and families and also for adults. NSCAP is a training, development and research centre and therefore does not provide clinical services directly to members of the public though all of our staff have extensive experience in the NHS and other sectors and most hold concurrent clinical posts in NHS Trusts across the region.
Information for children, young people, parents and carers
There is information you might find helpful on the Guides to Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy page. Alternatively you may want to look at the YoungMinds website which has lots of useful information about common emotional and mental health problems and how to access help and support.
If you are looking for a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist the Association of Child Psychotherapists may be able to help. If you are an adult looking for a psychoanalyst or psychoanalytic psychotherapist please go to the British Psychoanalytic Council.
Although we cannot see individuals for treatment we may be able to support services or professionals with complex cases or situations through our Side-by-Side consultancy service.
Information for service providers and commissioners
Please go to the menu for information about child and adolescent psychotherapy or adult psychoanalytic psychotherapy and their contributions to effective services. More detail on the evidence base for psychotherapy is provided in the Research section.
